Size Guide

Every gown in the boutique is sized against Australian women's sizing. Use the chart below as a starting point — then message us and we will measure the actual gown for you, flat, and send you the numbers before you buy.

Australian size chart

These are body measurements in centimetres. Measure over your underwear, keeping the tape level and snug but not tight.

If a style is listed in XS – XXL

Most of the racks are now labelled in AU numbers, but some of the labels we carry still ship their sizing in letters. Where that happens, this is how we read them:

A handful of styles also carry an AU 4 or an AU 20, and one or two imported gowns are cut to US numbering. If the size on the page doesn't look like the rest, ask us — we would rather tell you than have you guess.

Designer occasion wear runs smaller

This is the honest part. Formal and bridal labels are cut closer than high-street sizing. If you are normally a 10 in a chain store, you may well be a 12 in a gown. Gowns are cut close through the bust and the waist in particular — boned bodices, corset backs and fitted waistbands have very little give. Hips and length are usually more forgiving.

If you sit between two sizes, take the larger one. A gown can be taken in; it can rarely be let out.

Most gowns are one size only

We are not a chain, and we do not hold size runs. Right now there are 355 single-unit sizes across 106 styles in the boutique — one gown, one size, and when it goes it is gone. So if a size is showing on a product page, it is genuinely the last one on the rack.
